Training the Eye is a collection of vignettes that profile five year old Jordyne’s play, over a one-year period, in a child care program in Winnipeg’s north end. Filmed without narration and focused on capturing children’s play with little adult involvement, these vignettes provide a profound and intimate lens on Jordyne’s play, the subtleties of her relationships, the evolving patterns of play, and the continuous discoveries within her world. For the viewer, the vignettes deepen and enhance perspectives of childhood and ultimately celebrate what happens when children are just left to play.

This collection includes eleven vignettes, a music video, an interview with Jordyne and her parents, background information, and suggested questions.
